Shekosh concentrates to analyse the political and social affairs in the Somali Ogaden, where a continuous complex conflicts in common for last two decades.
Shekosh District
Shekosh is one of the four districts in Korahe region, Shekosh has bordered on south by Kebridehar, on the north by Degehabur region and on the east by the Werder region. The major town in Shekosh is Shekosh town, other villages near are Beoley, Birkod, Camp Borale, Gergoan, Radoyo. Fafen is the main river passes at Shekosh, which streams from the peak off Kondoda then float to Korahe plateau.
The Ethiopian Central Statistical Agency updated and published incorrect population figures in the Somali Ogaden land periodically. It gives tribal names to the districts to divide people in the Somali Ogaden land; Ethiopia put false statistical information in the nets.
Korahe region located the centre of the Somali Ogaden land and Shekosh located a strategic position in the Korahe region. This district located a soil fertile areas most of the people in the district are farmers they plant different crops such as maze, sorghum, vegetables and Khat.
There are two primary schools in the Shekosh district, one of the schools had built by the Emperor Haile Selesie’s regime in 1974, the Emperor had chosen to build two Schools in that year for the Somali Ogaden people and other one is in Shillabo district. The second school has decided to build and scheduled by the Somali Ogaden regional parliamentary in 1994. They planned college to be the main education provider in the Somali Ogaden to provide studies students from eight regions at secondary level of education. The committee behind the setting the college intended the college to give education and shelter more than 1500 students. The Netherlands government donated money to build this College and guarantee to give educational facility the college for the sake of the Somali Ogaden people.
Completion of the college building the Ethiopian government decided changing the preplan of the college. Then, disagreement had arisen between the project donor and the government. The work activities of the College being halt an eleven consecutive year’s clearly then donor realized that an uncared policy to the Somali Ogaden Nation later accepted government.
Just in 2007, the Netherlands nongovernmental donor organization accepted to pay partial of the monies through pastoral education programs that government run and earn lot of money from the international donors and college became rural primary School attended few part time students.
Shekosh is rich of life stock, different precious stones and Arabian chewing gum, those wealthy would be exportable if the government facilitate.
